Following are the Frozen Meat Trade Association's Smithlield market quotations for the undermentioned classes of frozen meat, bfised on actual sales of not less than 100 carcases of mutton or lamb or 25 carcases of beef of fairly average quality. These quotations arc not for selected lines, but of parcels fairly representative of the bulk of the shipments now on the market:— Frozen lamb—Canterbury heavy 30-1211), 4%d. Heavy River Plate sheep, 3%d; rest unchanged. The rabbit market is gradually improving, but unexpectedly large' shipments are surprising merchants after the statements about a shortage. Quotations are—Sydney large 12s to 12s Od. young 10s (id.
There is a great shortage of haves.: First grade 2s Gil, second 2s. Practically all were bought for' France and Germany. New- Zealand liemp—The market is quiet. Butter: The market is firm for best ! quality, the supply falling short of the demand. Prospects are favorable. The nominal quotation for choicest New Zealand is 106s, Danish 110s, Siberian 90s, Canadian 105s.
Cheese: The market is quiet. Holders are firm. It will be an agreeable surprise, however, if pr i ces do not det cline. The Home market is very large New Zealand white 00s, colored 01s, Canadian white 575, colored 58s. . Hemp: _ The demand iy dull." Very little business is doing. There is improved demand for New Zealand oats. Short (Sparrowhilis) ex granary, on the spot, per quarter of oS4lbs, 2Bs ; New Zealand oats (Danish), Oil the spot, per quarter of 3201b5, 21s »<l. The demand for oats on the spot is good. The same remark applies to parcels to arrive.
