TASMANIA TIMBER TRADE.
SHIPPING FACILITIES WITH NEW ZEALAND. AX IMPROVEMENT WANTED. Received September Ist, 4.20 p.m. Hobart, August 31. In order to enable local timber merchants to fulfil orders received from New Zealand, it has been decided to approach the Union Company, urging that greater facilities for the transport i of _ cargoes be granted. It was stated that a large quantity was stacked on wharves awaiting shipment.
Received 2nd, 1.7 a.m. Hobart, September 1. The timber merchants have communicated by cable with the "Union Company ill connection with the delays in shipping timirer to New Zealand. It is stated some merchants are negotiating for outside steamers.
