INQUESTS.
Per Press Association. Chrietchureh, Saturday Night. An inquest was held to-day "on the body of William Henry Thome, which had been found in the Heathcote river yesterday, and an open verdict of found drowned was returned. Deceased was a married man, with five children, and was sixty-two years of age. Eltham, Saturday Night. The inquest into the death of the two* and a'-half-year-old child Martin, which died suddenly last week after eating German sausage, was resumed to-day. Tho report from the Government Analyst stated that he found no trace of ptomaines or irritant poisons in the stomach, vomit, or sausage, and a guinea pig made to eat of the sausage showed no ill effects. The inflammation in the stomach might be due to the seasoning from the sausage, and he thought death might be due to acute indigestion. The medical evidence bore this out, and a verdict was returned accordingly.
