MAORI GIRLS FOR HOSPITAL NURSES
! To the Editor. | Sir,—l was very much interested in both l)r. Pomare's and your remarks in to-day's News on the above. I notice the doctor deplores the shortcoming of the "Taihoa," but isn't there a high priest of uiat name who sets Die example, not many leagues from his own Department! If the pakeha nurses turn up their noses at respectable -Maori girls the minister in charge has his remedy of clearing them out of the service, and should such an act take place the said nurses would not have a grain of sympathy from any right-thinking person. (There is no doubt some splendid women are in the ranks of hospital jnu'scfy and also some double-barrelled snobs. It is . the latter who sniff at the employment iof respectable Maori girls.—l am, etc., . | ALBERT SMITH.
