R.UIOTU. (From our own Correspondent). The Eev. Thomas Fisher gave.-an interesting lecture in the local hall on Wednesday night. The hall was well filled, and the lecturer was most attentively listened to. The subject was "The History of the Church of England." Numerous illustrated pictures were given by means of the limelight, and greatly appreciated. The proceeds are to be davoted to the Jubilee Thanksgiving Fund. ilr Seymour Tyrell, an old settler of many years' standing, has disposed of his farm, and intends shortly leaving the district. The purchaser is Mr. Aitken, from the South Island.

A meeting of ladies of the district is to he held on Friday, Cth September, at 2.30 _ p.m., to make arrangements Tor holding a bazaar in connection with the proposed new hall.
