There is still living in the village of Mgny (Bi'lgium) a woman who spoke with the great Napoleon on the day of the battle—Kltli June, 1815—at /that place. Her name is Anne •losephe Itubay, and she reached her Hl2nd birthday on 20tli July. Her memory is still perfectly clear as to the incident. She has a perfect recollection of the Emperor's appearance, and describes him as "a little man with a by nose." Bh' also remembers the scene of destruction and slaughter presented by the village the ne\t day. She describes the French soldiers as "fine fellows," but her recollection of the Prussians is not so favourable, for "they ate up all our chickens and our two calves without paying for them," Tt is better to be a self-made man, filled up according to God's original pattern, than to be half a man, made after sonic other man's pattern. "A man is not bound to be supremely prudent.'' said Iff Justice Chapman at chrMcliimli. "lie is bound to k*> reasonably prurient. Those who arc supremely prmlenl are usually those who are wise after the event. Ordinary people arc ordinarily prudent. Must of us arc ordinary people,"
