THEFT.
Per Pross Association. Wellington, August 28. At the Magistrate's. Court to-day, lTonry Edelstein, alius Smith, pleaded guilty to stealing thirty sheepskins, worth £lO, at Waingawa. There were five previous convictions against accused, whoso counsel said some years ago accused received a Wow on the head from a warder when in gaol, and the effects of this were still felt, causing him to do things he would not do in his Saner periods. Takirfg the circumstances into consideration, Mr Itiddell, S.M., fined accused £lO, or one month's ment.
