ASSESSMENT OF COMPENSATION.

Per Press Association. Wellngton, August 27. Tho Compensation Court has been sitting for some time hearing a claim for ! land taken by the Corporation in connection with the enlargement of the Karon reservoir. During the hearing a novel and important point cropped up. The Municipal Corporations Act prohibits foul or liquid matter being allowed to now on to any watershed required for tho purpose of waterworks. Counsel contended that this provision so limited the right of the owner of fluch land as to reduce its value. Judge Cooper considered the point so far-reaching that It ought to be remitted to the Appeal Court. Hearing of the case was accordingly adjourned to enable this to be done.
