TUKAPA CLUBS SOCIAL.

Despite the heavy rain last nig'.it there was a huge attendance at the'lukapa Football Club's thirteenth annual social. The assemblage was a brilliant one, and the Theatre Royal interior pre- 1 sented a pretty appearance, the banners of the town clubs giving a lino decorative ell'ect. The Auckland and Turanaki representative teams were tile guests of the club, anil during the evening were formally welcomed by . Dr. Fookes, the President. In an interval in the dancing, His Worship the Mayor, after apologising for the absence of Mr D. O'Brien, called upon Miss O'Brien to present _ the O'Brien shield to the Tukapa seniors, His Worship, on behalf of the football enthusiasts of the town, took occasion to thank Mr and Mrs O'Brien for I'm donation of these shields, which bad done so much for tho encouragement of the game here. Mr H. J. Mynott, captain of the team, briefly returned thanks, congratulating the Star Club on its fight for the shield this season. Cheers were given for the two rep. teams, for Mr and Mrs O'Brien, and for the Tukapa Club. The whole of the social arrangements were perfect, icflccting great credit on the committee. The music was supplied by Mrs George's orchestra, and Messrs E. Humphries,]';. P. Webster, R. Matheson, and A. Courtney were M.C's. The ladies' committee comprised Mrs R. Cock (President), K, P. Webster, E. Dock-rill, F. Newall, ,T Johnston, F. Moverley, and R, Cock, jun., Misses Bedford, Hanna, Websh>r, Cunningham, and Morey. The tables were decorated by Mrs Cock, sen., the floral decorations 'being embellished by the club's colors. The supper itself was an excellent repast, and St was capably served. Altogether the Tukapa social of 1907 was one of which the club has every reason to be proud.
