TERRIBLE MOTOR FATALITY.
New York, August 20. 1 A terrible motoring fatality is reported. Mr Root, a wealthy American manufacturer, was motoring towards the Ashley railway crossing, Massachusetts, at a speed of a mile & minute, running alongside the Pittsfleld express. In order to avoid a high bank at a curve, Mr Root, with frenzied bravado, attempted to cross the line in front of the ram. The motor collided with the engine. Mr Root and his mother, sister and aunt were killed, A niece was the only survivor. She suffered serious injury.
