The Land Board at its July mccliug adopted ii scheme for the expenditure, of accrued thirds in the territory inland from (Stratford, this action being necessary owing to the failure of the local | liody interested to submit proposals for the expenditure of this money. At yesterday's meeting Messrs W. A. Hi(.'iitchan, 11. R. Bennett, and 11. J. Bryant, representing settlers in r.lie Whangamoiiiona district, waited on J lie lizard and asked it to reconsider its decision. Mr MeCutchan said lie understood the Government was to take charge of the money, as the local body had not made proposals. lie did not think that the legislation of 1005 was intended to apply to such a c.ise as that of the money accrued to the Stratford (Anility Cenaeil.
