ALLEGED ILLEGAL OPERATION.
Per Press Association. Wellington, August 20. A married woman named Annie Whitaker, and a carpenter named William Burford, were charged at tho Magistrate's Court to-day with having ussd lan instrument for an unlawful purpose 011 a young woman 17 years of age. The victim of the alleged offence, it was stated, was in the Wellington Hospital .in a rather critical condition. The ease (was adjourned till three o'clock this .■afternoon to have the girl's depositions taken. .
