WEBB'S WELCOME HOME.
Per Press Association. Wanganui, August 10. William Webb, champion sculler of the world, met with a warm welcome home to-day. Some thousands ot people met him at the -tntiim, ami led by a band, escorted him to Cook's Garden, where speeches were delivered by tile Mayor, member for the district and others The Maoris danced hnkas and presented Webb with a .framed photograph of himself and an illuminated address, and the local school children gave a barometer to Webb and cutlery "to Mrs Webb. The proceedings were enthusiastic. To-night the champion waß entertained at a smoke concert.
