DAIRYING IN POVERTY BAY.
The lot of the dairymen in Poverty liay this winter has uot been a most enviable one. "During all the years J. have been connected with the business," said a dairyman to a reporter, "1 have never known the condition of things to be worse. Ordinarily we make a bit of prolit in the summer and lose a little in the winter, but this season beats them all We have a great deal more to do under more than usually unpleasant conditions, and the regular loss lias been much more than usual." Asked if it were true that the dairymen having runs were just now hard put to it to supply their customers, he said it was. lie had had to supply fi. e d for all his cows, there being little or no grass, and wliut there was was 0 f ; , very poor quality. Taken altogether, he had not known any winter mj bad for dairymen. A slicepfarmer mentioned that whereas last year lie hail had not required to 11-e lour horses for his vehicle until after the duly Hood, this year he had required the four horses since March.
