Per Press Association. Dunedin, August 13. At the annual meeting of the Council of Churches, held to-night, it was resolved to invite Dr. Wilbcr F. Crofts to visit Dunedin with the object of giving temperance addresses. It was complained that there was no improvement with regard to Sunday trading except as far as children were concerned. On the subject of bottle licenses coming up, the fact of the police not being able to enter the premises of bottle licensees was commented upon, and the opinion was expressed that there should bo legislation in the matter. The executive was instructed to take such immediate action as might be deemed fit to secure improved conditions. The totalisator came in for condemnation.
