DRAMATIC SCENE IN POLICE COURT.
WOMAN STABS HERSELF IN DESPAIR. London, June 20. There was a dramatic scene in the Cardiff police court yesterday, when Mrs ladale, the wife of a master mariner, subbed herself. Mre Isdale, whose conduct during his absence at sea was impugned by her husband, prosecuted Captain Isdale for desertion some months ago. The case went to a higher court, and was referred back lo the stipendiary. The magistrate dismissed the summons, and when in the course of his judgment he made a remark which suggested his decision, Mrs Isdale threw her head back despairingly, and her lips were compressed as though some grim resolve were taking shape in her mind. When the judgment was taking definite shape the court was startled by an agonised moan, and Mrs Isdale fell heavily in her seat. SEe was in a terribly nervous condition and waited anxiously for the decision.
Suddenly a lady at the Iwiek of the court shouted out, "She has stabbed her•elf!" Almost simultaneously Mrs Isdale gave a piercing shriek and fell back unconscious in her Beat. She was carried out of court and examined by a medical man. A wound half an inch long and one-sixth of an inch deep was discovered near the heart. A email knife tub found on the floor of the oourt.
Mrs Tsdale afterwards regained con«ck>uines« and sobbed hysterically, "Let me die. let me die! I've lost my limband!"
