ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Per Press Association. Auckland, August 12, A motor car, which Mr Dexter, of the linn of Dexter and Crozier, was driving, collided with a tram while proceeding to Newmarket laßt evening, The body of the motor was almost completely, smashed, although the engines were not seriously damaged. Mr Dexter and the boy who accompanied him miraculously, escaped unhurt.
On Saturday night the Inspector of I'olice received word from Taupiri that on Friday evening William Hagan reported that a settler of Hukanui, Patrick McSweeney, was missing. Hagan told the constable that he and McSweeuey left Mangawara in a trap for Huntly. Two miles from Taupiri the vehicle capsized. Hagan recovered consciousness about two hours later. He found himself cmite alone. He mado search, and found the trap and horse in a gully, but he could find no trace of his companion. A further search was instituted in conjunction with the police, but without result.
