A large ami enthusiastic meeting was held tlu's afternoon to consider the liest method of recognising William Webb's achievement in winning the sculling championship, of the world. It was decided to inaugurate a national testimonial in '.!«■ shape of a presentation to the champion of a section and house, or some other suitable gift. It was decided that an appeal be made throughout the colony, and that communications be addressed to the Mayors of the various boroughs, also that the Govern- j ment lie asked to give a State subsidy. The sum of CISO was subscribed in the room. In addition it was resolved to give Webb a public reception, and present him with an illuminated address.
