NEW ZEALAND'S IfffiST RHODES' SCHOLAR. Per Press Association. Dunedln, August 6. Information has been received to che (fleet that Mr J. Allan Thomson, the first Rhodes scholar from New Zealand, whose term is completed this your, has been appointed leeturer in geology at St. John's College, Oxford, this being the first college lectureship in this subject at Oxford. He has alßo been offered the position of demonstrator in Petrology to Oxford University, a new position, and, in addltiou, has been elected a Fellow of the Geological Society.
