Air W. uuiies, president, of tne Aortli Canterbury brunch of the Farmers' Union, in the course oi n lengthy argument, contended that there was actually no dispute between the farm workers and the einp.oyera, and that the case had been brought prematurely.The court reserved its decision on the question as to whether a dispute actuallj e.t'ate.l or not, and the president stated that if it were held that the case was properly before the Court, the whole matter would be referred by the Court to the Conciliation Board for investigation and report. Mr 'l'. Teschemakcr, who represented the Canterbury Sheep-owners' Union, complained that his union had been brought bofore the Court on matters that did not affect tliem.
