SUSPECTED INFANTICIDE. Per Press Association. Christehurch, August 5. The ilenth of an illegitimate child of a single youcg woman residing with her parents at Richmond formed the subject of an enquiry at the Morgue this evening. It appears that the mother was visited at. her home yesterday afternoon by the young man with whom she had been keeping company, During the afternoon the child, a fully matured one, was born without the assistance of a. nurse. I ,;i tor two doctors were called in, and it was found that the child had been dead for some time. The mother's condition was unknown Id her parents. A verdict was returned that death was due to sud'ocatijn, anil it is understood that manslaughter proceedings will be taken against the young man who wai present at the death, and who is alleged to be the father of the child.
