Mr W. Young, first assistant anil butter-maker at the Maketawa, diiry factory, Inglowood, h'as been appointed manager of the Tikorangi factory. Judgo Dennston and his associate arrived by the mail train last evening. His Honor will sit in the Compensation Court <a|t 10 o'clock this morning in tne case M. Jones and others v. the Minister for Public Work's. The death occurred at ICarori yesterday morning of Joseph W. Jordan. Deceased arrived in the colony in 18C3, and took up lntod in Rangitikei. Later he became a stock inspector in the Wellington and Wanganui districts. Deceased as the first secretary of the Wang'ijnui A. and P. Society, and one of the original members of D Batte.-v of Artillery, and was for many years in the railway service in Otago.—Prop:, wire.
The increase of traffic on the railways, and the opening of new stations is constantly necessitating changes in the railway stall's, and at present there is quite a movejunong th« officials. Mr. Chas. !'"• Day, who for close on twelve years lias had charge of the Wanganui goods sheds, has received notice of his promotion to the position of sfationmaster at New Plymouth. Mr Day formerly had charge of both the wharf and station goods sheds, but the business of both grew to such an extent as to necessitate their separation about four years ago, Mr Day taking over the "railway sheds. TTe has throughout his service shown himself a capable officer. He was prominent in rowing matters, and proved himself an almost Indispensible adjunct to life Sailing Club. His place here will be taken by Mr Parsons, of Eltham, says the Wanganui Herald. Mr A. H. O'Loughl.in, stntionmaster at New Plymouth, is promoted fo be goods agent at Auckland.
