THE SITUATION AT BELFAST. London, August 1. The police of Roscommon, Leitrim, Galway, and Mayo stroagiy sympathise with those of Belfast, who threaten to strike unless their grievances arc redressed. The authorities are urgently recruiting large numbers of Irish constabulary. They live sent maxim guns to Belfast. REPEAL OF UNION MOVEMENT. New York, August 1. The Irish Americans have opened a Sinn Fein aggressive campaign. They threaten to stop contributions to the Irish Parliamentary fund unless Mr John Redmond shows more "ginger** and adopts more radical steps to secure national Independence. THE DISCONTENTED POLICE. The Earl of Aberdeen declined a petition from the Belfast constabulary, on the general condition that, precedent ' c any representations there must be complete reestablishment of discipline.
