Turner, of .New York. gave a private demonstration at the Savoy Hotel yesterday of a remarkable invention which, while assisting the business man to conduct his all'aii's, may add a now terror to the lives of evil-doers. The invention is called a dictorgraph. and by its aid Mr Turner claims that the police will be able to heal* conversation in a distant room, while ail employer of labor can listen to the complimentary or uncomplimentary remarks which may be made in different parts of a building by his clerks of workmen.
The dictograph consists of a small box, or master station, less than a foot long and >ix. inches deep, and any number of small sub-stations. IMiiml on a de>k or table and connected with its j,ub-stations in different parts of the building or in different cities. ihe dictograph places the owner at oiicr in communication with ten or more a^istaiits. The remarkable feature of the instrument U the fact that the master station i* endowed with the power of hearing and repeating every sound, even every whi-per within a radius of fifteen feet.
