LABORERS' WAGES.
INDUSTRIAL AWARD. Per Press Association. Wellington, August 2. The industrial award on the general Laborers' Union dispute has been filed. A week's work is not to exceed 48 hours and shall be fixed by each employer to suit his particular business, lii tunnel work the iiouta must not exceed eight per shift. Six hours will constitute a day's work when men are working in wet places, or foul air. The minimum rate 3 of wages for and timber men is 10s per shift; ail iSlher workers employed underground 9s, quarrymen 9s, laborers not specified, if employed continuously for one week or more. 8s per day; for a less period, Is iy 2 d a hour. The award, which is not to affect contracts made before the hearing of the dispute,' is to come into force on September 1 next, and expire on September. 1, 1909.
