THE TARIFF.
Per Press Association. Wellington, July 30. The Wellington Chamber of Commerce met to-night to consider the Government's tariff proposals. The following resolutions were passed: "That in view of the remission of '/A per lb. granted to local manufacturers on sugar, this Chamber is strongly of opinion that the schedule of old duties on imported confectionery should be reverted to." "Thiil the duty on foreign eococa be re duced to Id per lb." "That infants' food be admitted free." "'That the Government be recommended to revert to the old duty on boots and shoes." ''That the remissions named in class fi should not come into force until January 31." "That roofing tiles be included in class 0 and also under the Preferential Tariff Schedule D, Part 2." "That an ad valorem duty of 20 per cent, be placed on handbills, circulars, etc., instead of 3d per lb." "That trade catalogues and price lists he free." ''That corrugated iron should be admitted free." "ThaL the duty on cash registers should not be inclined.'' ''That dairy cleansing material be placed on (lie free list." "That imprinted butter paper be free."
