FIRE ON MAIL STEAMER
THE OUTBREAK EXTINGUISHED. Received 31st, 1.15 a.m. Sydney, July 30. The fire on the French mail teamer is out. The damage chiefly is confined to the sail locker, and Numbers 1 and 2 foreholds, whero a considerable amount of cargo was damaged by smoke and water. Several firemen were overcome by fumes, but soon recovered. The cargo is being discharged.
