DRAUGTHS.

A draughts tournament began in the ■Town Hull on Thursday. Over thirty players took part. It is expected thai the tournament will be finished next Thursday afternoon, commencing at two o'clock:—

A correspondent writes, asking, in view of the proof afforded by the tournament of the great interest taken in draughts by a large number of citizens, Unit the Borough Council should, cither in the new Carnegie Library or in.the Town Hall, set aside and furnish a room of respectable proportions for players of draughts and kindred games., He instances the excellent accommodation provided free at the Leys' Instil ute.Ponsonby, Auckland, which, he. asserts, is I one, of the finest of its kind in Australasia.
