The thought of thee/my home my sunny land, ..." Comes floating o'er my spirit, soft and sweet—'Tis like the cadence of some tuneful band That echoes in my soul—alas! too i lleet. ! The odor of sweet flowers, the song of birds, Like some solft balm, sheds softly through the air, And breathes of all things free—who could compare With thee, my home, my sunny land, so fair? The stream that flowed beside the little mill, The rustic bridge where I was wont to stand— The thought of childhood days float o'er me still In pictured scenes of thee, my sunny land. The playful waves that wash against thy shore— The rainbow shells T gathered from thy sand; Tn dreams 1 can behold thee still once more, And live again in thee my sunny land. The wander'r's heart still lingers with his home, And sighing pictures all that loving band, Till his lone spirit, stirrig thus, makes moan, I would I were in thee, my sunny land. —Mrs Adolph Goldwater.
