PROPOSED OPUNAKE-ELTHAM ELECTRIC TRAM.
(From our Opuimke Correspondent). At a special meeting of the County Council on Monday the question of the electric tram was again discussed, Cr. iteming presided. Cr. Dudley moved that the previous resolution refusing to contribute to the cost of an ,expert estimate be rescinded. After some discussion this was carried by oto %, Cr. Dudley then moved, That this Council is prepared to contribute .COO towards the cost of an estimate; the estimate to state the cost in sections from Auroa road to Opunake, from Opunake to end of western boundary of county and from Eltham road to Sk'eet or Oeo road. This was carried after some discussion. Crs. Dudley and Conaglen were appointed delegates to the conference if a meeting is required. A spcial meeting; of th • Town Board was held in the evening, v.v.'.'n the resolution refusing to eoiiti'it.i,e was rescinded, and, on Hie motion of the chairman (Mr Dudley), it was resolved that this Hoard having reconsidered the El-tham-Opunake electric tramway and lighting scheme, will devote the sum of CHI towards the cost of procuring an expert opinion on the scheme. The proposed estimate will bring the tram to the Jaramki county boundary within about 20 miles 0 f Xew rlymouth , Would it not be advisable for the Taranaki (oimty Council to join in and obtain an estimate right to New Plymouth';
