PROVINCIAL NEWS.
KAHOTU. I (From Our Own Corespondent), A meeting of the Kahotu Hall Committee was held on Monday. In the abBence of the chairman, Mr A. Baker was voted to the chair. A letter was received from Mr \Y. C. Green, resigning his position of chairman, and also from the committee on account of pressure of business. The. resignation was accepted with extreme regret, as Mr Green has been an energetic member. Mr A. Baker was appointed chairman and Mr ,T. K. Parsons was elected to the. vacant seat on the committee. Discussion ensued on the question of a new Hall, and it was decided to energetically m-oceed with raising money for a new hall. It was a'so decided to ask the ladies of the district to co-operate with the committee by holding a bazaar. A dance in aid of the hull funds is also to he held during August. The Crown Dairy Company are erecting a college at their factory at Kahotu to replace the one recentlv destroyed'by lire. Mr 11. Wallath. of New Plymouth, is the .successful tenderer.
Mr A. Porteous is round (he pel it inn to have the Parihaka Rond Hojird District subdivided into wards. So I'iir In' is being very successful, the ratepayers being favorable to the ward system. l"nder the Act two-thirds of the ratepayer* must sign the petition before the change can he made, and there will be no dilliculty in getting the required number.
Mr .1. P. Uughson is having extensive additions made to his residence.
1 regret to report that Mr Keg. Shaw is at present laid up, suffering from n poisoned leg.
