The New Vork lleiald cabled to Viscount Hayanhi, Japanese Minister fur Foreign Affairs, mating that only u dozen newspaper*, out of 2200, symp.ithned with the Jingo demand for th ■ transfer of a fleet to the Pacific. It wns therefore untrue that the demonstration was backed by the entire Anuricui! people. Viscount H*jrashi replied that all Japan had unshaken confidence in the policy of justice and peace displayed by the American Government. He was convinced of the pacific character of !he situation, and that the sensational reports appearing in a small section of the Press did not reflect the nitrons Bind.
