OBITUARY.
Per Press Association. Invcrcargill, Julv 10. .Captain Jns. Gardener died to-day, aged 71. Deceased was well-known ns the former owner of Birchwood estate, the finest homestead in Southland. He played a largu part in introducing sport into this district, and for many years ran his own pack of hounds. He was alos the founder of the well-known Birchwood flock or Romnoys.
