RIP VAN WINKLE. 'J'lw laylor-C'arringtou troupo scored a leeord success last night iu the production of "Rip Van Winkle" to a full house. Ihe performance was given as a benefit to the Western Park and liecreation Sports Ground. Mr Charles Taylor played the part of "llip," mul played ifc to perfection. His broken Dutch and his constant witticisms keeping the audience in aide-splitting roars of laughter, lie was equally good in the more pathetic scenes, and kept the audience with him right a,long. "Rip," of course, was the centrepiece of the production, but -Miss Ella Carrington, as "RipV wife, showed that she had made a close study' of the part, and, further, that she could act the role capitally. The -.legend of "Rip ' is well known, and it lost nothing of its glamor in the presentation by this popular troupe, every member doing his utmost in bringing about a feeling of the greatest pleasure and satisfaction amongst (hp large audience.
