COLLAPSE OF SCAFFOLDING.

WORKMEN INJURED.

Invercargill, July 14.

A sensation was caused in town about noon on Saturday by the news that the scaffolding on the wall of a new brick building, where men were working, had collapsed. Subsequently, it was discovered that the wood-work of the scaffolding gave way, and brought down a quantity of newly-laid brick-work. Three men, James Carruthers, Frederick Lawton, and Stanley Mitchell, were working on the scaffolding, and fell about ISO feet to the ground. All wcro more or less badly shaken, but Lawton was the only one that could not make his way home. He was attended by a doctor. Vive men were mixing mortar below, but all got. clear except Richard Morgan and Stanley Mitchell. Morgan was pinnerl to the ground by a beam, and when removed was evidently in great pain, and was taken to the hospital. Mitchell was not seriously hurt. It has since been diatoverod that Morgan's hip was dislocated, but he is doing well,
