No. 2 bore his now the six-inch easing nearly t-j the bottom again, and tile work of putting the easing down to a hard streak is progressing.

The pulley for No. o was only re - ceived yesterday atternoon, and boring operations wiil therefore be delayed until about Monday next. At a meeting of directors of the company last ewning, it was decided to accede to the request of a deputation from 1 lie Taranaki Stock Exchange that «a weekly report of the operations at the bores be given them and forwarded to the Pre?>.s for publication, and to supply reports of any extraordinary development at the works.
In order to dispose of the surplus oil on hand, the Taranaki Petroleum Company has d cided to oiler it at 3d per gallon, lhe price formerly was <kl. The crude oil was used at the late Palnierston winter show for the purpose of spraying the ground in and around the exhibit buildings, and proved particularly successful. So soon as men can be spared, a start will be made with cleaning out No. 1 bore. At the Taranaki Oil and Freehold Company's property on the Carrington road the dilll has reaehel v. depth of about a hundred feet. Extremely hard country has been penetrated, hard conglomerate being pierced only at the rate of übtMit a foot per day for a fortnight. At present solid stone is being encountered, probably a stray boulder.
