BANK NOTES.
When bank notes are returned to the Bank of England the signature of the chief cashier is torn off and the notes aro placed in boxes and stowed away in vaults, where they are kept for a space of five years, when they are burnt. So perfect is the organisation ol the Bank of England in respect to its paper money that any bank note in its possession can be prodused at a moment's notice.
