WANTON BRUTALITY.
A glaring case of villainously bad sportsmanship or wanton brutality came before the meeting of the tltago Acclimatisation Society 011 Friday (says the Otago Daily Times). A letter was read stating that in the country between the Ahuriri river and Lake (than sheep had been found dead in bunches, and oil being examined wete found to have been shot with ritle bti;lets. It is diliicult to understand the motive for such a deed as sheep are almost as easy to hit as a haystack, so that even the worst sports man in the world could find no pleasure in shooting one. The all'air seems soiuetniug of a, mystery, but the Otago Society will p.ace the matter before the Oamaru Society (in whose district it occurred), and doubtless steps will be taken to trace the offenders.
