AUSTRALIAN MAIL CONTRACT
INDIA INDIGNANT. 1 London, July 1. Renter's .Simla correspondent reports that the press and public are indignant over the terms of the new mail contract between Great Britain and India. Thv-v complain that no provision has been made for a progressive diminution of the voyage and no provision wherein India will benefit from the improvements in marine propulsion. The representative of the mail syndicate intimates that certain financial houses in London have arranged to supply the whole million and seven hundred T iind fifty lliousani! pounds worth of de- l; lientures in connection with the contract, '' consequently Victoria's guarantee may ' not lie needed.
