A NEW NAVAL INVENTION
CLAIMED WILL REVOLUTIONISE TORPEDO WARFARE. A YOUNG VICTORIAN'S DISCOVERY. Received 21st, 12.44 a.m. .... Melbourne, June 20. , A trial is shortly to be made of an invention of a young Australian named jUiUane, which, it is claimed, will revolutionise torpedo warfare. A board of navy experts reported favorably, whereupon the Minister for Defence afforded assistance and facilities to complete the invention. The inventor states that it will increase the velocity from 27 to 32 knots in 1000 yards. The motive force It™? ll( l"' d which develops 2238 times the force of guncotton. It is exploded by concussion. The inventor ' discovered it accidentally while experiimenung. '
