SCENERY PRESERVATION SOCIETY.

The comniittee of the Scenery Preservation Society met last night. Present: .Messrs W. A. Coliis (chairman), F. Carrington, W. L. Newman, C. W. Qovett, !•:. Dockrill, W. H. Skinner, and C. Carter (secretary). The chairman reported that two "places to visit" notice boards had been erected at the railway station and in Devon street, and permission was given lor a third one to he-erected 011 the M naif at Motu on avLjecl to the approval of the Harbor Board. Wilh a view of encouraging the observance of Arbor Day, and particularly the planting of native trees, £0 was donated to the committee of the New Hyi '.Duth Technical School, £1 each, to the Central and West End school committees, provided the committees in each case guarantee to have the trees securely protected and properly tended. A vote of £. r > was made for the further beautifying of Marslani Hill, under the Mi|icrvision of the committee, as a whole, iiiid £1 to be expended in pohulcutawas fur Knwaroa. •
