A C-ONTKAC-TOHS' CLAIM. Messrs Broadmore Bros-, contractors, claimed for ISMi yards of metal placed on the road by the.' Hoard's spreader in excels of contract requirements. The engineer said th it there was undoubtedly a little over the quantity required, but notiimg more tlian usual. Tin; contractors had their own spreaders and they should hive kept the metal properly spread. The conditions were tn.-ii. they could not take over less than iU yards of metal. .During ike summer n,,.-iiiiis the work had noi liecn anything like continuous, lie disputed tae tigtucs—there were not IUU yards in excess. The. engineer was empowered to obtain boulders to repair the hole caused by a spring on the Davis road-
Mr Laurence reported that the Norfolk road west was just aliout impassable for wheel trallie. Settlers were willing to assist in cllecting repairs.— Thirty yards of stone will he procured and spread, and the foreman will join with the settlers in corduroying tiie worst places.
Mr Char J brought up the matter of a very bad hill, almost impassable, on the L'gmont road North.—Mr Marsh urged the necessity for connecting the metalled portions of the road.-No tunds.
Ihe foreman, reported that the work on the Ratapiko road, asked for by the Manganui Road Board, would cosi about .as.-The Manganui Koad Roard will be further communicated with Mr Corktll gave notice to move that applications for foremen be invited annually.
