EARTHQUAKES IN JAMAICA

BUILDINGS DESTROYED AND SOLDIERS INJURED. Received 14th, 9.47 p.m. New York, June 14. Word has been received from Kingston, Jamaica, that an earthquake from the south-east was especially severe at Port Royal, destroying walls, and temporary buildings under construction there. During a dash for the open, 40 of the Royal Garrison Artillery and Royal Engineers were injured, and 11 seriously. Fifteen were conveyed to the hospital. The panic was intensified by the curious turbulence of the sea near the coast. Six soldiers of the West India regiment were injured at Uppark, while making a similar dash.
