The course is known as the Lyman Beecher lectures., and is one of the highest honors within the gift of Vale. The lectureship lias been filled in former years by such distinguished Britons as the late Dr. Dale and Professor Oorge Adam Smith. Professor •Tames Orr, of the United Free Church College in (llasgow, was to deliver ten lectures in New York in April on "The Virgin Birth." Those lectures grow out of extensive recent correspondence with twenty-five representative scholars in Ureal Britain, on the Continent, and in the railed Stales, wlio were asked fo submit to Dr. Orr their views on thi-i I heme. Portions of what they have wrili.en will be incorporated info bis lectures, and the combined work will be published in mok form. The 'Rev. Thomas Law, secretary nf the VrPe Church Council of Creat Britain, "invaded" the United States in April, and several other prominent English clergymen were expected.
