Taut Meynoll and Gunn's famous dramatic organisation had installed themselves as favorites with New Plymouth theatre-goers was proved by the large audience which greeted the company at the Theatre Royal last evening, when Walter Howard's great unitary drama "The Midnight Wedding' was staged for the first time on local boards. The play .is willlout doubt uoe of the most admirable and well-balanced romantic dramas that has ever been presented lo ihe colonies, and when hand.ed by the talented combination at present in town it was only to Lv expected it would be enthusiastically ;c----ceived. Mr liareourt Beatty, tho'famous English actor, was the star artist, and his re-appcarance at tile Theatre 'Koyal was greeted with dooerved approbation. Everyone liked him, trum ;ue dress circle to the pit, and he fully sustained his high-grade reputation. He is willlout doubt one of those actors of the modern school wdio knows tie i-licet of reali-tic quiet work, full cf feeling and finished with the true artistic touch. His acting o: th.- dillicilt role uf Paul Valinar wa e ! -irable—nothing overdone. Every *■ character—and there were eight' ■-. or twenty of them—was in most capable hands, and the whole combination pruduml a re.illv enjoyable esening's entertainment'. "Tho .Midnight Wedding" fairly sparkle-* wilh military glory, au'il certainly tells a stirring story of love iinl hate'to the letter. The .scenery is most lieautifiil and elaborate, whku the dressing is most princely and appropriate. To-night "The Midnight Wedding" will again be singed. To those who attended last, evening it is unnecessary to give advice, and to those who did not witness the drama we can honestly recommend them not to miss the opportunity of being present, and predict another full house.

To-morrow (Saturday) evening ''The Fala'l Wedding" will he staged by special request. Tlii- will close the season at New Plymouth.
