MILKING MACHINE HISTORY.
The lirsfc milking machine is recorded 100 years ago, since when at least l< ; 'i different machines have appeared. :n spite of auiomatie releasers, and innumerable devices designed to overcome the dangerous stress on the cows, every machine failed absolutely. It remained for Gillies, a Victorian fanner, to patent, o years ago. the prinieple of in letting air in like manner ;o the calf, and thus produced the "Lawrence-Ken-nedy-GilHes," the fir-t successful milker. One machine now having proved successful will naturally produce imitator, but past history proves their chance f.J Buccess one in 100.
