YOI'XO, IIOUIIS & CO.'S WOOL SKIN, AXU HIDE RAMS. Messrs Young, Hobbs and Co. report:— On Tuesday. 28th May, W f held our usual 4-weekly wool, skin, hide and tilllow sale, and were again favored with consignments from clients throughout the province. Owing to the up-to-date methods used by us in prcparin" and showing oir (lie hides catalogued, we were again favored with keen competition from outside buyers, and are eonlidenl that the results obtained will be satisfactory to our numerous consignors. We are pleased to say that the method of sejling hides at per lb is giving every satisfaction to both buyers and sellers, although the extra labor and handling involved is less remunerative to ourselves than the old method of selling by the piece. In common with the recent fall in bides in (ireat Jlrilam and Australia., prices were lower than results obtained at last sale. However, we think we can assure d'cnls that the tide has turn ed. and next sale will show a slight improvement. Owing to the time of the year, our catalogue showed a. further shrinkage in wool, as we. only oifercd seven bales, beside a number of sack lots. .Although we passed in a tew jots all were afterwards (putted at satisfactory prices, about par with last month's prices. Sheepskins met with keen coin petition fully equal to recent rates. W,; were pleased to note that the condition of the pelts showed better attention by producers than hitherto for this unfavorable time of the year, but owing to dampness in the pelt or wool of some portion of every lot'we again sold all sheepskins by the piece. Owing to the high prices ruling f„ r (allow in London .clients uotilied their intention of shipping direct this month. We oll'ercd a ■quantity of finned I allow., all of which sold satisfactorily.
