ANTICIPATIONS. By "Moturoa." The Great Northern Steeplechase meeting of 1907 will be inaugurated to-day. Large fields are engaged in most of the events, and the racing should be of an interesting character. In the G.N. Hurdles a large field is likely to go to the post. has caused the event to bear an very open aspect, and, although Shrapnel is now the ruling favorite, the names of si) many good hurdlers figure in the programme, it is quite on the cards that a surprise may lie effected. To endeavor to name the winner in the various events I will select the following:— Maiden Steeplechase. i'/-, miles: Sammy or Ma whit i. Maiden Welter, five furlongs: Engraver or Octoroon. Great Northern Hurdles. 2 1 /. miles: Cuiragno, Florin, or Shrapnel. " Maiden Hurdles, \% miles: Ben JohnCornwall Handicap, one mile: Regulation, Loch Erne or Svren.
