TARANAKI WOOL,-SKIN, HIDE, AND TALLOW SALES. Ml!. IsEWA.N .iiLV.-'S REPORT. On Tuesday, 28th hist.,- I held my ■usual four-weekly sale of the above province. It is now twelve months since I I held the tirst sale of the kind in Taratiaki, and vendors of such produce can now rest assured that the market value here is established on a perfectly safe and satisfactory basis. "'There is always a good demand for good quality clean hides, and t would fmnress on'clients the advisability of inking belter care of them. Considerable loss is suffered from neglect of hides.

! We had a very successful sale on May 20. Offered a good catalogue, and, uot'wiUistnnding the sharp drop in hides, we realised excellent prices for all good conditioned lots.
Wool: Very little offered; price as last month.
j Hides: All sound, good conditioned lots I were keenly competed for at very little under lute rates, while inferior and damaged lots were slightly easier. Sheepskins: Last month's prices were fully maintained.
'fallow: No change to report.
We quote:— Wool: Fleece, 7'/ 4 d to B'/ad; pieces, 4'/ 2 d to 7%d; crutchings, 5%d. medium, (id to «%d, ox light, 5%d to fld, cow, stout, 5%d to 5%d; cow, medium, s'/ s d to 5%d; cow light, 4%d to 5(1.; settlers' and damaged, 3d to 554(1; kips, butchers', 5d to 5%d; calf skins, sound, fl%d. Sheepskins: Butchers' dry. 2s Id to 5s (id; part damp, 3s 3d to 4s 8d; salted, 4s to 5s 4d: settlers', to 3s Bd.
Tallow: In casks, medium 24s 3d to 25s 3d; inferior 235; in tins 14s to 20s 3d. Tails: Is fld per dozen. Bones: £3 5s per ton. Only a few bags offering. The advantage of selling at Now Plymouth is every month becoming more apparent to the trade, and we now number among our clients butchers from Hawera and Eltham in the south, to Awakino in the north. The class of hides, and the condition in which they are offered a.'e i'.i' of favorable comment by buyers, and the prices realised are equal, and in many cases better, than those obtaining at other sales ill the colony.

At the ITaymarket on Saturday there was a good entry of pigs, and improved prices were realised, weaners making 4s Gd to 7s; slips 8s to 13s fld; small stores IBs to 20s; horses made £2 to £8 10s. At the mart "there was only a small entry of poultry, but prices were satisfactory, ftucks made Is fld to Is 7d; hens, Is 3d; cockerels, Is 3d to Is 7d; guinea fowls, 2s 3d. A large quantity of sundries proved bargain's to purchasers.

Emit: Bananas and oranges continue in good supply, and prices are low, the latter selling at 5s to 7s per case; prime bananas l%d to 2d per lb; green do., 5s to 7s case; lemons,.Cs; apples and pears are wanted, and 1 recommend shipments. Cattle: At Waiwakaiho on Tuesday there was a small yarding, but nearly everything sold either at the hammer or privately. Weaners made !ls; good steelcalves, 21s to 23s fld; yearlings, 31s; 18 months steers. 445; store cows, £1 to 375; dairv cows in calf, £3 12s fld to £5.
At Tol:o r.)\ Monday calves made 10s lo 17s IS-month heifers 345, 15 months ntccrs. 455; store cows, 35s to 41s fld; springing heifers, £4 12s (id. At llaliotu on Thursday, calves made His (id (o 14s; 15 months steers, 445; 2 1 /. years ditto, £3 lis (id; store cows. 30s to 455; forward ditto, £2 10s lo £3 10s; fat ditto. £4 !)s; bulls, 25s to 50s.
