Local loans shall he repayable in 80 years. The Treasury contributes £IOO,OOO in the first year. Small holdings are not to exceed fifty acres and allotments may bo Increased from one to five. ' Mr Hnreourt said the Bill would not *ct up dual ownership or confer on <ho tenantry a saleable tenant right. He did not believe compulsion would lie widely resorted to. The Eight Hon. W. H. Long opposed compulsory hiring. Mr Jesse Collings thought it would be a mistake to keep small holders in '.he position of tenants. The Bill was read a first time.
